"I was told by a doctor not to feed from the side I had mastitis on"
BUSTED BIG TIME
Incorrect information is the reason why some 40% of mothers have a re-occurrence of mastitis.
Mothers are often sent out the door with a prescription and no information on how to manage their mastitis, or how to prevent a re-occurence.
It is important that the affected breast be drained of the milk not left in the breast! Leaving milk in the breast is one of the causes of mastitis.
If your baby is a little fussy during episodes of mastitis it will probably be due to its taste, as during mastitis the sodium content is higher! Thereby making the milk taste salty.
