was an American Obstetric Anaesthetist, who in 1953 introduced a simple test that drastically reduced infant mortality throughout the globe.
The APGAR Score is still in use today.
Dr Apgar also established the field of Neonatology
Dr Apgar later went on to work for the March of Dimes Foundation, a non for profit organisation working to improve the health of mothers and their babies.
